Mythology is an expression of the collective unconscious. When my
consciousness had taken the symbol of transformation to its dynamic
conclusion, I was in a rut. Once again, the unconscious came to the
rescue, in the form of mythological contents. Drawn when needed, a
series of archetypical images assisted me in transcending the play
of opposites, assimilating pyschological contents, and continuing
the vision quest.

My frustration with not having a studio to paint was poignantly
captured here with the brush appearing heavy and the limp wrist
weak. The words are no less uplifting. (pen on 81/2" x 11" paper)
There
was much joy when I did this series of the female and male in
union. It was a spiritual union - that of the play of opposites.
Personification is one of the great powers
of art. If you can depict your obstacles, you can defeat them.
The next best thing to being
able to paint was visualizing oneself doing so. This series gave figurative
support to my efforts.
